A seemingly innate interest in the meaning behind geometric order formed the axis of what may be summed up as my lifelong search for expression equivalent to purpose. Wound around the exigencies of the coming of age alongside seven children, an architectural practice kept the wolf from the door. An abiding interest in painting, as well as a search for a philosophical typology mapping biological exigencies with cosmological meaning, guided a pervasive sense of aspiration. In October 2019 a major exhibition of my life’s work opened and remains on view at 312 Connecticut Street, San Francisco, Ca 94107.

Interrupting several years of college, the Korean draft landed me on Kwajalein Atoll for a year with the Seabees. From there, studies at the University of Oklahoma with Bruce Goff, Architect; a start-up Art Gallery on Union Street in San Francisco;  a year hitchhiking around the world studying architectural monuments; the formation, out of the existential niches of North Beach bars, of a group studying the ideas of G.I. Gurdjieff; initiation of a Macro-biotic restaurant and design school on Battery Street in San Francisco; twenty-years of immersion in the Gurdjieff Work as a student of John Sinclair Pentland;  Senior Designer with Charles Luckman Architects in New York; President of the American Thought Combine, a multi-disciplinary design group in New York; President of the Unified Systems Consortium that coordinated the bidding by major corporations of GSA’s innovative Office Building Systems Program; the formation, under the auspices of Lord Pentland, initiated the Berkeley Gurdjieff Group; after being Principal in the firm Enomoto, Lindahl and Copeland, A.I.A., Lindahl Associates formed in 1983.

Things rounded themselves out with a short stint on the council of the Gurdjieff Foundation of California; continuing studies with Jeanne de Saltzmann, and Pauline de Dampierre of the Paris Institut-Gurdjieff establishment of the San Francisco Gurdjieff Society on Potrero Hill (1993), which after twenty years of research and experiential practice spawned the Intropy=Entropy Institute dedicated to the development of a Cosmopomoral Theory of Everything (Necessary to Live Sanely With Purpose).

Interspersed chronologically with the above activities were a number of architectural projects dotted around the San Francisco Bay Area., Lindahl & Associates saw the design and supervision of the construction documents and construction of the Lorin Eden Elementary School, the Los Banos High school, Hayward vocational high school, Daly City Civic Center, 36 Townhouses in Marin, 36 townhouses on 17th and Eureka SF, tenant improvements for10 International airlines at SF Airport, miscellaneous restaurants, and commercial projects.

Retiring from the rigors of running an architectural firm in 2008, I’ve since concentrated on studying the history of Gnostic and esoteric thought, throughout successive civilizations, the nature of thermodynamics, biology, physics, and Complex Adaptive Systems. The expression of these studies, through the empirical method of science and an objective format, led to a coalesced understanding of objective science, objective art, and objective religion.
